During the senior year internship with Horizon Healthcare Partners, the graphic design group was tasked to create a logo for the Mental Health Association of Rhode Island. They have an event every year in May at the state house for the May Is Mental Health Month, where speakers tell their stories.
The research started by looking at last year’s and other company logos dedicated to mental health online. Using this research, I decided to incorporate the illustration of a flower for a double meaning. With the flower substituting the brain, it can symbolize growth, but it also gives a subtle signification to May and Spring. The use of the colors pink, purple, and yellow is intentional as they are flower colors, followed by the rounded text to mimic the rounded petals of a flower.
During the final votes between each group member, mine was chosen as the May Is Mental Health Month Logo of 2024.
